On Sunday 19 May we attended the 20th Workshop of the Hellenic Academy of Optometry on Low Vision at the amphitheatre of the University of West Attica (PAADA).
With a total of 7 lectures by distinguished and renowned colleagues in the field as well as the product presentations of companies with low vision aids, the program was very full and highly educational.
Areas of low vision were covered such as the epidemiology of low vision (Mrs.Konstantakopoulou E.), its causes (Mr.Gazotis S.), the clinical examination (Mr.Armatas I.), the categories of visual aids (Mr.Karageoriadis E.), the social support of patients with low vision (Mrs.Konstantakopoulou E.), and the psychology of patients (Mr.Kiosses V.).

We were informed about the mobility service of the Panhellenic Association of the Blind as well as about the latest technology and artificial intelligence low vision aids available in the Greek market by Bairamoglou, Eyeart Laboratories and Optostirixis.
Finally, Mr.Patheras, Director of the Department of Optics – Optometry, informed us about the latest developments in the training and further training of optometrists/optometrists at PADA, while after the end of the Workshop he took us on a tour of the renewed equipment of the department’s laboratories, where we had the pleasure of testing the impressive new measuring and diagnostic machines of the school.
